RETRO
Background

Formed in 1997 during the peak of the Britpop era by Daniel Price (vocals, guitars) and Richard Abbs (vocals, lead guitar), a niche in the entertainment market was seen by two extremely talented young men. Then joined two exceptional musicians Dan Pelos (vocals, bass guitar, acoustics) and Aaron Trigg (drums and percussion), formed the new innovative band "RETRO" in 2003. At the end of that year, Richard Abbs left RETRO to go off as a solo artist. RETRO then gained the creative Peter Leonard on the lead guitar who started playing with the band from the beginning of 2004.

RETRO's music has ultimately been influenced by sounds of The Beatles, The Stone Roses, The Undertones, U2 and more recent bands including Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene who the lads met in 2004. The band have collaborated an intelligent set uniting old music with new and a mix of fresh original music written by the lads themselves. With growing experience from playing an array of venues across the Midlands, RETRO evolve with confidence and flair.

In 2003, RETRO played to many venues of different varieties which included popular pubs and bars. Larger venues included The BBC’s Music Live 2003 concert held in Market Harborough (26th May 2003) and also to Leicester Tigers Rugby Stadium (13th September 2003), playing to a variety of well known rugby players, as well as backroom staff and special season ticket holders. This is regarded by the lads as being their best local achievement to date, but they do enjoy playing more intimate smaller venues.

2004 bought the lads gigs in pubs, bars and nightclubs throughout the Midlands. RETRO also headlined Market Harborough’s Ultimate Musical Extravaganza event for TDH Promotions (June 5th 2004), appeared at the Frenzy Festival (23rd October 2004) and have done gigs for various charities. They also played a showcase of their original music at Northampton University (23rd November 2004) to a massive crowd of appreciative students which, as always, was very well received.

Reviews and Newspaper articles about the band are always extremely positive and fulfilling. Quotes from these include ‘A versatile band’, ‘Top Harborough Outfit’, ‘Retro are making the grade’ and ‘Harborough’s most popular band’.

With a huge fan base and following, RETRO’s diaries for 2005 are filling up rapidly.

RETRO have been described by spectators from a spectrum of different generations as, quite simply, ‘Entertaining’.
